Brennan

BRENNAN TOWNSHEND 1993-

 Son of: Mary Lou North

He plays Rugby for Oakhampton under 16`s,  recently at center though he has been wing and full back too. He has had a trial for Devon under 16`s and he has attended Martin Johnson`s Rugby Camp where he had a session with the great man (see right)

He likes everything outdoors and excelled on a recent commando course (above)  with climbing, abseiling and hirewire with a fearless display.

He has plenty of friends locally and gets on well with his cousins, though he does find sister Elinor a bit of a pain from time to time.

He shoots well and practises on the rats around the farm. He beat his Grandfather (right) in a recent shoot out, but not by much.

Brennan lives on Dartmoor and loves the freedom and the space of it.  He and his younger sister help on his mother`s farm with daily chores. He accepts the heavy rain, drizzle, hail and frost as all part of living with nature, he finds it exciting but loves to come and be cozy by the fire too.

He was as keen on riding horseback as his sister but now gives his allegiance to the mountain bike and the Quad bike, which he uses to help round up the sheep.

He looks like being a serious contender at long distance running. He recently came in first for the under 16`s race at the two hills competition race in Chagford and we all think he will win it outright next year as an adult. He enjoys running as “he leaves all his pronblems behind”. He would not say what his problems are!

He takes training very seriously with a quick dash up a steep Tor before school and a long run after school. Having done his chores he then gets stuck into the rowing and weight lifting machines in his bedroom. He also follows a strict diet eschewing chocolate and sweets...is this a normal teenager?

As to the future watch this space. He expresses his vision as being one where “my mind goes into my hands”. It could be forestry, it could be farming...early days yet.                              Notes written by Grandad Jeremy 4/11/08
